Quebec trade rule for accountants and tax specialists, applicable throughout the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
The rule
assess the project before connecting the agent: Every business must carry out a privacy impact assessment (évaluation des facteurs relatifs à la vie privée) for any project to acquire or develop an information system that involves personal information (art. 3.3). It collects only the necessary information (art. 5), informs the person of the purposes of the collection (art. 8) and takes security measures appropriate to its sensitivity (art. 10). Information is sensitive when, by its nature or the context of its use, it gives rise to a high degree of reasonable expectation of privacy (art. 12): treat income statements and social insurance numbers this way.
