  • Never makes a mechanical diagnosis.
  • Never confirms a repair price without your estimate.
  • Hands off for a complaint or a safety issue.

Anything that leaves the company (email, payment, publication) goes through your approval.

A typical day

Yes, an AI can answer a garage's phone: when the service advisors are at the counter, Rex answers, books the slot according to the shop's capacity, confirms by text, sends the estimate prepared by your advisor, collects the customer's approval, lets them know when the vehicle is ready and records everything in your CRM. It never makes a diagnosis.

Trade rules in Quebec, followed by Rex

Written estimate before the repair

Before carrying out a repair, the garage must provide the consumer with a written estimate; it can be released from this only by a waiver written in full and signed by the consumer. Estimate fees may be charged only if their amount was announced beforehand (art. 168). The estimate states, among other things, the nature and total price of the repair, the part to be installed and whether it is new, used, remanufactured or refurbished, as well as its date and period of validity (art. 170). Rex announces your estimate fees at booking, sends the estimate your advisor has drawn up, and never has a customer waive the estimate.

Unplanned work

the customer's express authorization: The accepted estimate also binds the garage: no additional charges for the planned repair (art. 171). An unplanned repair requires the consumer's express authorization; an oral authorization must be recorded on the estimate with the date, the time, the name of the person and, where applicable, the telephone number dialled (art. 172). Rex records each approval with the conversation in the CRM, but never adds work: your advisor obtains the authorization.

3-month or 5000 km warranty, invoice and sign

A repair is guaranteed for three months or 5000 kilometres, whichever comes first, from delivery (art. 176). The invoice states, among other things, the repair, the parts and their condition, the hours of labour and the hourly rate (art. 173), and the garage displays a sign in plain view about these rules (art. 180). When a customer calls back about a problem after a repair, Rex opens the file and passes it to your advisor, who judges whether the warranty applies.

Winter tires

December 1 to March 15: According to Québec.ca, all motorized road vehicles registered in Quebec, including rental vehicles, must be equipped for winter from December 1 to March 15; the fine is $200 to $300. The tire must bear the pictogram or be fitted with studs, and studs are permitted from October 15 to May 1 on passenger vehicles. Rex sends your tire-change reminders before the rush and books according to the shop's capacity.

Text messages, personal information and reviews

The estimate requested by the customer and the “vehicle ready” notice do not require prior consent (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, Loi canadienne anti-pourriel, CASL/LCAP, art. 6(6)a) and b)); neither does warranty, recall or safety information about a service the customer has obtained (art. 6(6)c)). A promotion requires express or implied consent (art. 10(9)a)). Rex collects only what the appointment needs (Quebec's Law 25, art. 5). For reviews, Google's rules prohibit offering an incentive in exchange for a review or soliciting positive reviews selectively, and the Competition Bureau (Bureau de la concurrence) reminds businesses that an employee who posts a review must disclose their connection to the business.
