A typical day

Yes, an AI can answer a restaurant's phone and take reservations: when no one can pick up in the middle of service, Kai answers, offers a table according to your capacity and rules, confirms by text and records the reservation and the conversation in your CRM. Questions about allergies and complaints always go to your team.

Trade rules in Quebec, followed by Kai

Allergies

the information comes from your team: In Canada, the priority allergens are eggs, milk, mustard, peanuts, crustaceans and molluscs, fish, sesame seeds, soy, sulphites, tree nuts, and wheat and triticale. For unpackaged food, such as in restaurants, Québec.ca indicates that allergen information should be accessible to customers at all times or provided to them, for example by an attendant or a sign. Kai never says that a dish is allergen-free: only your kitchen knows its recipes and its cross-contamination risks. He passes on the question and the customer receives the answer from your team.

Quebec's Law 25

ask only for what the reservation needs: Only the information necessary for the purposes determined before collection is collected (art. 5), and the person is informed of the purposes of the collection and of their rights (art. 8). A declared allergy is medical information, and therefore sensitive within the meaning of article 12: it is used to prepare the meal, not for promotions. Before personal information is communicated outside Quebec, a privacy impact assessment (évaluation des facteurs relatifs à la vie privée) is required (art. 17): ask any provider in writing, ZeniTech included, where your data travels.

Text messages and emails to customers

A reservation confirmation does not require prior consent (art. 6(6)b) of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, Loi canadienne anti-pourriel, CASL/LCAP). The group offer sent to last year's holiday-season customers is a promotion: it requires express consent, or implied consent if the customer bought something from you in the previous two years (art. 10(9)a) and 10(10)a)). Each commercial message identifies the restaurant and offers a way to unsubscribe (art. 6(2)).

Serving customers in French

The Charter of the French Language (Charte de la langue française) provides that consumers of goods or services have the right to be informed and served in French (art. 5). Kai answers in French, English, Spanish and Arabic; your confirmation messages and promotions are written first in French.

Review requests

to everyone, no reward: Google's rules prohibit offering an incentive, such as a discount or a free product, in exchange for a review, and soliciting positive reviews selectively. The Competition Bureau (Bureau de la concurrence) reminds businesses that an employee who posts a review about their business must disclose that connection. Kai sends the review request to customers after their visit; do not reserve it for satisfied customers.
